Sir Ranulph Fiennes Portrait
TMF Group, who currently sponsor Sir Ranulph Fiennes in his latest record breaking quest, commissioned a series of portraits of Sir Ran for their publicity purposes. He is currently on a mission to scale the highest peaks on each of the worlds’ continents. There are seven in total and his aim is to become the first person to achieve this alongside crossing both polar ice caps. As you can imagine he is rarely in the country and when he is around he has a very busy schedule of events and lectures. So we had just a couple of hours of his time to shoot a series of portraits in a hire studio in Shoreditch. He had three appointments that morning so arriving with us at 7.00am was not an ideal time but we filled everyone up with coffee and pastry and set to work. He’s a gent and absolutely professional, patiently cooperating with all that we asked of him in the short time frame. Then he was off! We lit and shot on neutral backdrops and made a few wardrobe changes to give us the flexibility to drop him into a variety of settings. Retouching by Mike at Rabbit Retouching
